New Hampshire Leads in Creating Jobs New Hampshire has the second fastest growing job market in the county. Even while nationally the number of jobs fell last year, in the Granite State nearly 10,000 jobs were created . (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). House Democrats have ensured that the hard working people of New Hampshire be paid a decent wage by raising the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour.
Lower Unemployment: The unemployment rate is nearly 40% lower in New Hampshire than it is nationally and new jobs have been created in each of the past four months. (Nashua Telegraph, 7/13/2010). To ensure the Granite State continues to have a low unemployment rate, House Democrats passed New Hampshire Working which is designed to help companies avoid layoffs and help unemployed workers return to work by providing new job training.

Low Taxes: New Hampshire citizens pay some of the lowest taxes in the nation. According to the Federation of Tax Administrators, the Granite State collects the 2nd lowest amount in taxes per capita, and residents pay the smallest amount based on personal income of any state in the nation. (taxadmin.org). Despite tough economic times, House Democrats balanced the budget without any new broad base taxes.
Small Businesses: New Hampshire is one of the top 7 states in which to own and operate a small business (taxfoundation.org). By outlawing the "use tax," which would allow for other states to tax their residents who choose to shop in New Hampshire, House Democrats protected small businesses, especially those in tourism.
Education- The Department of Education ranks New Hampshire among the top 5 states in key measures of reading and math. Now every 5 year old in the state can attend Kindergarten thanks to House Democrats who refused to allow our children's future to be held up in the court system.
Best Place to Raise a Family: According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation, New Hampshire is the best state to raise a family in the United States. (Annie E. Casey Foundation) House Democrats helped to ensure all families are recognized by signing the Marriage Equality Act.
Health: The United Health Federation ranked New Hampshire the 5th healthiest state in the nation, up one spot from last year. (United Health Federation) With the cases of autism on the rise, House Democrats made insurance companies clarify coverage for diagnosis and treatment of pervasive development disorders like autism.
Safety: New Hampshire continues to be the safest state in the country for the 3rd year in a row according to CQ Press’ analysis of FBI crime statistics. (Boston Globe, 4/5/2010). House Democrats are making sure that parolees and probationers seek treatment for substance abuse and mental illness which will improve public safety and save money by lowering recidivism.
